The Glass of Water

A professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see, and asked the students: “How much do you think this glass weighs?”

’50 ml!’….. ’100 ml!’ …..’125 ml’, guessed the students.

“I really don’t know unless I weigh it,” said the professor, “but, my question is:What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?"

And he stretched out his hand, holding the glass, up over his head.

‘Nothing.’ the students said.

‘Ok, what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?’ the professor asked.

‘Your arm would begin to ache’ said one of the student.

“You’re right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?”

“Your arm could go numb; you could have severe muscle stress and paralysis, and you may have to go to hospital.” Ventured another student, as the rest of the class laughed.

“Very good! But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?” Asked the professor.

‘No.' was the answer.

“Then what caused the arm ache and the muscle stress?”

The students were puzzled.

“What should I do now to come out of pain?” asked professor again.

“Put the glass down!” said one of the students.

“Exactly!” said the professor.

Life’s problems are like that cup of water, each a drop in your cup.

Hold it for a few minutes in your head and they seem all right, bearable. But carry them long enough in your mind and they begin to ache, and then to injure.

Hold it even longer and they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything, to move on or solve other problems.

It’s important to think of the challenges or problems in your life, But even more important is to know that it's ok to put them down for a while and only think of them here and there, or at the end of every day before you go to sleep.

This is the way to reduce stress, to go through your day with more energy in your veins, because the problems you carry around drag you back and slows you down. When you let yourself  be more free, you can handle any issue, any challenge that comes your way.

So remember...

When you start your day today, Remember to put that glass down. It'll be there, just where you left it, but you don't have to carry it around all day. You really don't.

11 Tips to Improve Self Confidence

Here are some quick tips to improve your Self Confidence. If we are committed to have a healthy self confidence there are many things you can do every day to boost your self confidence, each small steps that will help you to reach your goal. The good news is that self-esteem is not fixed and can be improved, try some of the steps below to boost your confidence and self-esteem.

1) Identify your successes. Everyone is good at something, so discover the things at which you excel, then focus on your talents. Give yourself permission to take pride in them. Give yourself credit for your successes. Inferiority is a state of mind in which you've declared yourself a victim. Do not allow yourself to be victimized.

2) Look in the mirror and smile. Studies surrounding what's called the "facial feedback theory" suggest that the expressions on your face can actually encourage your brain to register certain emotions. So by looking in the mirror and smiling every day, you might feel happier with yourself and more confident in the long run.

3) Exercise and eat healthy. Exercise raises adrenaline and makes one feel happier and healthier. It is certainly an easy and effective way to boost your self-confidence.

4) Turn feelings of envy or jealousy into a desire to achieve. Stop wanting what others have just because they have it; seek things simply because you want them, whether anybody else has them or not.

5) When you're feeling superbly insecure, write down a list of things that are good about you. Then read the list back. You'd be surprised at what you can come up with.

6) Don't be afraid to push yourself a bit - a little bit of pressure can actually show just how good you are!

7) You can try taking a martial arts or fitness class/course (or both). This will help build confidence and strength. Invest in some new clothing and donate some of your old clothing to send a message to yourself that you both look sharp and feel sharp.

8) Try to make yourself talk positively at all times. When you hear yourself saying you can't do something, stop and say you can. Unless you try, you will never know whether you are able to or not.

9) Don't get wrapped up in your mistakes and dwell on bad points; they can contrast your good points or even give you something to improve. There's no feeling like being good at something you were really bad at.

10) Don't confuse what you have with who you are. People degrade their self worth when comparing possessions.

11) Surround yourself with nurturing friends, not overly critical individuals who make you feel inadequate or insecure. This could do great harm and damage to your self confidence.

Always remember "There is hair line crack between success and failure" Be sure to push yourself a bit, who knows that bit may lead you to success.

Good Luck - Bad Luck

There is a Chinese story of a farmer who used an old horse to till his fields. One day, the horse escaped into the hills and when the farmer's neighbors sympathized with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?" A week later, the horse returned with a herd of horses from the hills and this time the neighbors congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, "Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?"

Then, when the farmer's son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell off its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this very bad luck. Not the farmer, whose only reaction was, "Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?"

Some weeks later, the army marched into the village and conscripted every able-bodied youth they found there. When they saw the farmer's son with his broken leg, they let him off. Now was that good luck or bad luck?

Who knows?

Everything that seems on the surface to be an evil may be a good in disguise. And everything that seems good on the surface may really be an evil. So we are wise when we leave it to God to decide what is good fortune and what misfortune, and thank him that all things turn out for good with those who love him.

The Man In Trouble

A man was caught and thrown into a pit (A big hole on earth) of about "40 feet" deep, just because he was a stranger. He struggled trying to get out of the pit,but the more he tried, the weaker his muscles became. He said to himself, "I don't know how to get myself out of this. Maybe I should just die instead of enduring these miserable struggles and pains."

Just then, he heard a voice screaming, "Help! Help!! Help!!!" The shouts were coming from another pit, which was 10 feet more deeper than the one he was in.

He thought to himself, "Wow, so there is somebody else like me trapped here too". Listening carefully, he heard some cracking and sand dropping from the wall of the pit of the other victim. Immediately he summed up his courage and with his last bit of strength, started crawling little by little until he made it out of his pit.

MORAL:

That pain you think you are passing through, there are people worst off than you. Always say something sweet to yourself. Always smile at your pains. Let them be; they are just there for a while and also to challenge you. Today may be your darkest hour, but your joy will come in the morning. Try to encourage yourself. Look at yourself in the mirror, beat your chest and say, "I can make it and I can stand the test of time."

*Always try to face your worst fear because nothing GOOD comes easy. You must be UNCOMFORTABLE to get to your COMFORT ZONE.

Give Others Their Happiness

Once a group of 50 people was attending a seminar.

Suddenly the speaker stopped and started giving each one a balloon. Each one was asked to write his/her name on it using a marker pen. Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room.

Now these delegates were let in that room and asked to find the balloon which had their name written, within 5 minutes. Everyone was frantically searching for their name, colliding with each-other, pushing around others and there was utter chaos.

At the end of 5 minutes no one could find their own balloon.

Now each one was asked to randomly collect a balloon and give it to the the person whose name was written on it.

Within minutes everyone had their own balloon.

The speaker began--- Exactly this is happening in our lives. Everyone is frantically looking for happiness all around, not knowing where it is.

Our happiness lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness, you will get your own happiness.

And this is the purpose of human life.

Is this not what you are looking for?

Wonderful message from an old, experienced man

Wonderful message from an old, experienced man

 .... words to live by!!!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight, and and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them , at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER
: Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Shagun: A Very Short Story

Click Here If You Can't See Image

He asked the old man to bribe him with 500 rupees to sign his pension papers.

The old man gave him 501 rupees and said, "the one rupee is shagun, so that the money doesn't bring misfortune to you and your family for being dishonest with a person your father's age."

Shaken, he returned the money that was offered, signed the pension paper immediately.

However he couldn't part away with the little coin of shagun.

It'd stopped him from bringing misfortune to him and his family thereon.

The Donkey Attitude

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but  more from God.

You have two choices... smile and close this page,
or pass this along to someone else to share the lesson.

‘WHEN YOU TRUST SOMEONE TRUST HIM COMPLETELY WITHOUT ANY DOUBT....... AT THE END YOU WOULD GET ONE OF THE TWO : EITHER A LESSON FOR YOUR LIFE OR A VERY GOOD PERSON.

The Power of Good Words

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods, and two of them fell into a deep pit.

All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the unfortunate frogs they would never get out. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit.

The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and simply gave up. He fell down and died.

The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and suffering and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out. When he got out, the other frogs asked him, "Why did you continue jumping. Didn't you hear us?"

The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

This story holds two lessons:

1. There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.

2. A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say. Speak life to those who cross your path.

The power of words… it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times.

Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another.

What to Focus on for Success

When there is a negative situation that you cannot change,

Focus your thoughts and energy elsewhere.

When there is a pain that will not go away, Overwhelm it with an even greater amount of joy.

It serves no useful purpose to get mired in despair over things you cannot control.

It makes much more sense to do the very best,  to achieve the very most, With those things you do control.

You can choose where to focus your energy and attention.
Focus on those areas where you can have a powerful positive impact.

Yes, it can be easy to get caught up in the negativity of the moment.
Yet it also can be surprisingly easy to shift your focus toward the positive, Productive things you can do.

You are never obligated to be miserable. If you really want to contribute to life, Set your sights on the value you're able to create.

Don't despair over the darkness that is beyond your control.
Instead, shine your own light so brightly that the darkness is overwhelmed.
